Gogo's Kitchen
serves up to 300 people a day
Established in 2020 by Maria Dlokolo in response to the COVID epidemic.
Gogo’s kitchen is run by Maria and her daughter who trialed a Kitchen model called “Food is not free” for the Pots&Pens campaign. People using the kitchen were asked to contribute a nominal amount, like R5 or R10 for a plate of food. Where people were unable they were asked to participate in the recycling project.
The kitchen operates on these pillars:
- Improving food security
- Providing nutritious food
- Wellness awareness
- Combating GBV
- Providing educational programs
- Reducing the effect of climate change.
Kitchen needs:
Regular donations of dry ingredients such as rice, lentils, samp, beans and perishable ingredients such as meat and vegetables. They would also appreciate workshop stationery, IT equipment, waterproofing, printer, laminator and solar panels.
